Thank you for visiting my web-site.
I am Nelly Oostland-Veldhuis, a Dutch painter. I started painting about twenty five years ago, and the medium which is most important to me is water colour paint.
Never bored with water colour painting.
Why water colour? Well the medium is still a challenge for me, you're never "ready" with water colour. It's such a fascinating way of art making. Very often the paint goes its own way and I think that is very exciting.
Famous painters
I want to share the happiness of making a beautiful painting with others by teaching how to paint. That's why I teach water colour painting for about twenty years now. My own education in this I had from very famous painters like Hans Peter Nagtegaal, Rob Komala,Bob Tomanovic, Ron Ranson, Ann Blockley etc.
Favourite subjects I like to paint are water, skies and landscapes. Flowers are also a very well liked subject. These are my specialities, strongly related to nature.
But I do still life and portraits as well, done in order though.
The teaching I do is in landscapes, skies, flowers and water.
The unique "Hake technique"
He has been named before, but one of my most important inspirators is Ron Ranson (www.ronranson.com) I still learned a lot more from him and his Hake technique, or in other words big brush painting, is unique. Ron and his wife Darlis have become very dear friends. They were also present at my exhibition in Bilbao near the Gügenheim museum in Spain in spring 2004. Very much of what he tought me I would very much like to pass to you, supported by the principals of the greatest American teacher in watercolourpainting ever nl. Edgar Whitney.
